What this size is for

This is the one size an iPhone app cannot skip. Apple asks for a 6.9-inch set — or a 6.5-inch set in its place — and derives every other iPhone class from what you upload, so 1320 × 2868 is the master your whole listing is built from.

It is also the sharpest of the three sizes the 6.9-inch class accepts: 2868 × 1320 is the exact panel resolution of the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max, so nothing is resampled on the newest hardware.

Design here first. Anything you make at 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736 is still a valid 6.9-inch upload, but it arrives on a 17 Pro Max very slightly soft.

The mistake to avoid: Mastering at 1290 × 2796 because an older article called it "the 6.7-inch size". There is no 6.7-inch class any more — that dimension is now simply one of three the 6.9-inch slot accepts.

Devices in the 6.9-inch display slot

The App Store files these devices under the same slot, so one set covers all of them:

Will this file work on Google Play?

No. Google Play refuses any screenshot whose long side is more than twice its short side, and at 1 : 2.17 this one is over that line. Design once, then export a separate 1080 × 1920 set for Play — the artwork is the same, the canvas is not.

Open the editor with the canvas already set to 1320 × 2868, drop your app screens into a device frame, and export the whole set — watermark-free on the free plan.

The other sizes in this slot

The App Store accepts more than one exact dimension here. Any of them uploads to the same slot — only one set is stored.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a 6.9-inch display screenshot on the App Store?

1320 × 2868 px in portrait, 2868 × 1320 px in landscape — an aspect ratio of 110:239 (1 : 2.17). Apple requires a 6.9-inch set for any app that runs on iPhone. A 6.5-inch set is accepted instead, and everything smaller is scaled from those two.

Which devices does the 6.9-inch display slot cover?

iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro Max. 1320 × 2868 px is the native resolution of iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Is 1320 × 2868 required?

Yes. Apple requires a 6.9-inch set for any app that runs on iPhone. A 6.5-inch set is accepted instead, and everything smaller is scaled from those two. Upload the set at 1320 × 2868 px, in PNG or JPEG, RGB, no alpha channel or transparency.

What format and how many 1320 × 2868 screenshots can I upload?

PNG or JPEG, RGB, no alpha channel or transparency. Count: 1 to 10 per display class, per localization.

Can I upload a 1320 × 2868 screenshot to Google Play?

No. At 1 : 2.17 it exceeds Google Play's rule that no side may be more than twice the other, so Play refuses the upload. Re-export the same design at 1080 × 1920.

Do I have to redo screenshots I already made at 1290 × 2796?

No. 1290 × 2796 is an accepted 6.9-inch size, so an existing set uploads to the same slot without changes. Regenerate at 1320 × 2868 the next time you touch the artwork, for the sharpest result on current hardware.
